I received two of the PRP injections. First procedure, the pain got progressively better as each of the 7 weeks went by. The second procedure relieved top of the shoulder pain and back. Dr. Darr gave me quality care and expertise of my shoulder problem. He used his knowledge to determine where the injections needed to be done. I have already referred Dr. Darr to people and I will continue to refer patients to him.
I am a 57-year-old who loves to garden, ride horses and maintain a job as an accountant. After experiencing severe shoulder pain for about a year that was keeping me up at night and unable to even relax on my sofa comfortably, I was diagnosed with a torn tendon. I thought the only way to fix it would be surgery with a long recovery period. Just prior to my scheduled consultation appointment with Dr. Darr, I happened to read an intriguing article in my Vet's office about a revolutionary medical procedure that was successfully regenerating cartilage in horses with fractures. I thought, if they are doing this for animals, why can't they do it for people...? Well I had always had confidence in Dr. Darr's knowledge and skills as an orthopedic surgeon, but I was pleasantly surprised when he suggested an alternative to surgery for my pain. He told me that he has been using the same basic procedure quite successfully in many of his patients who had tendon, ligament, and bone issues that may otherwise have needed surgery to correct. He called it PRP therapy. I opted for this more conservative, less invasive approach and had the procedure done in his office. I remember actually being able to feel the healing effects within one day! It's been almost a year since my procedure and my shoulder pain is still completely gone. In fact, it was so effective, I tell everybody about my good fortune and Dr. Darr. To think that I was ready to have shoulder surgery and that this simple, and almost painless procedure helped me so much, is sometimes hard to believe.
Over the past 25 years I have had to have at least 6 complete shoulder surgeries. I had 3 pins put in, bone shaved, bone spurs, cartilage damage and spent years in physical therapy. In the short time since the stem cell therapy, less than 6 months ago, I have more movement in my left shoulder- more than I have had in 10 years. I have almost complete movement in my right shoulder, all of this with very little or no physical therapy. I can't say enough about Dr. Darr, he did my last 3 shoulder surgeries and also put me through some therapy. With the stem cell work that he's done, it has eliminated a lot of the time and work I would have normally put in with physical therapy. I recommend him highly for anyone considering stem cell work whether it be for the shoulder, hip, or knee. My personal experience is, I have more movement now that I did 10-15 years ago, and that's even with the physical therapy. I am most appreciative of Dr. Darr and his staff and the professionalism they have shown me.
Combined Cellular Therapy helped me to move around better and I now have less chronic pain. When it comes to the medical care provided by Dr. Darr, the time he spent with me stands out. He helped me understand my options. The quality of the entire staff also stands out. To someone looking for a doctor, you can trust Dr. Darr to do what is best for you.
After having the iovera treatment in my right knee, my pain has gone from about an 8 or a 9 prior to treatment to zero. I am now able to get back in the garden to pick beans, I can cut my grass again, and I am back to doing housework. Dr. Darr and his staff are great, they have become like family to me. To someone looking for a doctor. Dr. Darr and his staff are superb, he is truly top-notch.
Dr. Darr did awesome on my knee surgeries [arthroscopy). I can squat, climb, stand, and walk without any pain. I am able to play with my kiddos and do basic activities that I haven’t enjoyed in years due to pain and lack of movement. I feel 100% better. Dr. Darr and his staff was top notch. They were all sincere in my quality of care and were all so caring and patient. Dr. Darr's staff goes above and beyond in the care of their patients and is totally awesome. Dr. Darr is the man. He is compassionate about his work, his patients, and the outcome of everyone. He does top notch work and I will be returning if needed for something else.
The ACL repair to my left knee allowed me to return to my daily activities of horseback riding with my children. The quality of care I received from Dr. Darr and his staff stands out to me. Dr. Darr is fully committed to your recovery. He has lots of enthusiasm and is good at what he does.
I'm 61 years old and I just experienced a total knee replacement by Dr. Kevin Darr. I had a football injury back in the 70s, and of course over time I had degeneration of the left knee joint. It got to the point where it affected my daily life, it affected my sleep, climbing stairs and even walking. So as I limped in here to Dr. Darr's office, his staff started prepping me back in July for a total knee. 16 days ago Dr. Darr performed the total knee. I am 100% satisfied; I have had none of the same pain I had been experiencing for the last 2-3 years. The physical therapists tell me I am way ahead of schedule and that is because his team prepped me months ahead of time on what to expect and we started physical therapy and APR wave ahead of the surgery. I highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about doing a total knee replacement to take the advice of Dr. Darr and his team- ARP and physical therapy before the surgery. I am now walking without a walker or cane, still experiencing some swelling but pain is gone. I attribute it 100% to the work I put in before the surgery and following the orders of the team. These guys are first class.
After a total knee replacement, my leg is not stiff anymore and it doesn't hurt anymore. I never gave up any activities, I just worked with it. I slowed down for about 3 weeks and then went right back to it. People were asking how I did it Dr. Darr did a good job, he spent time on my leg and he got it right. I had no problem with it, he did a good job. I have already told people about Dr. Darr. To people who were complaining about their knees hurting I told them about him and to my knowledge, people have come to see him.
I had a total knee replacement on 3-30-15. Dr. K Darr is my doctor. I started back walking more, doing activities around the house. I can every go grocery shopping again. Showering was the best feeling again, I don't have to hear all that grinding. Dr. Darr is the best, he was always there when I need something. He always asks how are you, did the surgery go okay to you? His bedside manner is terrific-are you pleased? And the answer is yes, yes. Please, if you want to walk, clean your house again, and go shopping, please see Dr. Darr. He's wonderful. March, I had the surgery, this is September, I feel fine. Thank you Dr. Darr. Thank you very much.
I had my right knee replaced over 10 years ago- the left knee also needed replacement. I felt that the delay was necessary until I retired. I felt comfortable in returning to normal activities with 5 months after surgery. I have to say Dr. Darr is very upfront. He informed me of what to expect, although I had firm knowledge of how much is required from an individual regarding the rehabilitation. A personal effort is needed to have your knee function normally. To a friend, I would say have the knee surgery, but understand how much work you have to put into the rehab process. The rehab must be accomplished to be successful. Have Dr. Darr do your surgery.
m. I was injured in an automobile accident resulting in a torn meniscus. Dr. Darr saw me on an emergency basis and operated within 2 weeks. Though I have some lingering knee issues, Dr. Darr has given me my life back. What a wonderful, caring doctor. He KNEW exactly what my knee issues were and walked me through every step of my recovery. Just go see Dr. Darr- don't wait another minute!
I had arthroscopic surgery for a badly torn meniscus in my right knee. After surgery, the knee pain was gone. Pain from the surgery was minimal; I didn't even take my prescribed pain medicine. I used crutches for three days after surgery, but was then able to get around without them. Dr. Darr was wonderful, and very interested in my case. He was very professional and took his time explaining everything. I especially appreciated him praying with me before surgery. I have already told my friends about Dr. Darr and his staff, and how wonderfully they treated me.
After receiving arthroscopic knee surgery from Dr. Darr, I have gotten back to walking, running and completing everyday activities. The quality of care and follow-up care especially stood out to me. Dr. Darr is very up front about the procedure and its results. He holds true concern for his patients, and displays an outstanding amount of knowledge and skill.
Surgery (knee arthroscopy) went very well-much improvement in my knee. My follow-up went well and Gretchen was very supportive, helpful, and thorough. Quality of care stands out to me. My first appointment was brief, the wait time was long. Dr. Darr is very knowledgeable and communicated in layman's terms that I could understand. Staff is supportive, kind, and extremely helpful.
