Take Charge of your health and know your profile – Specialty Testing

Covington Orthopedic Institute can perform a full battery of blood and dietary/ lifestyle analysis depending on your needs. Upon analysis, your results will be explained and an individualized protocol will be prescribed as necessary.

This knowledge, together with compliance with your physician’s recommendations can significantly enhance your ability to proactively manage your own health and wellness on a long term basis. Protocols can be designed to help aid your body in the healing process, possibly prevent future disease and slow the aging process.

Available Testing Options:

Bone Mass Density – Measures the strength of a patient’s bones and determines if there is osteoporosis condition which signifies the degree of fracture risk. Read More.

Micronutrient Testing – Accesses the intra cellular nutritional requirements based on analysis of the patient’s white blood cells. Read More.

Telomere Testing – Measures the length of the patient’s telomeres which are the sections of DNA at the end of each chromosome that serve as a cap to your genetic material. Your Telomere Score reveals your cellular age and can be evaluated via a blood sample analysis. Cellular age can influence your aging process and age related degenerative diseases including cancer, cardio vascular disease, and dementia. It is also related to metabolic abnormalities such as obesity. You can slow your telomere length by addressing your dietary health.

MTHFR & Apolipoprotein E(ApoE) Genotyping – Reveals genetic markers critical for determining treatment strategies to decrease the risk of degenerative diseases including cardiovascular disease and other disease of ageing.

Advanced Cholesterol Testing – Will determine lipoprotein particle profile to more accurately access risk for cardiovascular disease. This test provides better guidance for targeted treatment strategies over standard cholesterol tests.

Food Intolerance Testing – The ALCAT Test is used to measure personalized nutrition on the cellular level. The core technology is a blood test that measures the body’s cellular response to challenges from a wide array of substances including various foods, additives, colorings, chemicals, and medicinal herbs. The test identifies adverse cellular reactions and sensitivities to over 350 different items that are commonly consumed by most people. These inflammatory reactions are linked to chronic health problems like aching joints, obesity, migraines, chronic fatigue, and diabetes, as well as, skin, heart, and digestive disorders.

Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex Test (FACT) –

FACT DIAGNOSTIC

Through the discovery of a unique “pain protein” that can identify the source of musculoskeletal pain, Cytonics has developed FACT, a diagnostic molecular biomarker used to identify symptomatic intervertebral discs or painful joint abnormalities. FACT is used to measure the presence of the Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex (FAC) and other related biomarkers in a fluid specimen taken from patients with musculoskeletal pain. FAC is a unique molecular complex that has been reported in peer reviewed publications to be associated with painful inflammation.

What is FACT? (Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex Test)

FACT is a novel antibody test that was developed as an optimized assay to detect the Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex. The test is a heterogeneous sandwich ELISA utilizing anti-fibronectin immobilized on solid support and anti-aggrecan-G3 as a detection antibody. FACT measures the presence of the Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex and other cytokines in a fluid specimen taken from patients that experience musculoskeletal pain. FACT can be used by physicians for testing synovial fluid from any joint or from intradiscal fluid obtained by Molecular Discography. Your FACT score can help your physician determine what is going on below the surface-beyond those signs and symptoms you and your doctor can see and feel.
